How to pack in a hurry?

Packing is definitely the most stressful part of moving. Whether you have a month or just a day or two, it can be tricky if you don’t know how to do it properly. Having to pack in a hurry can affect your whole move, even the unpacking. So it’s important to make sure you’re doing it in a way that will make your move more enjoyable and less stressful. And trust us when we tell you, you need to reduce as much stress as possible. By following these few tips, you will be done with packing in no time.

    The start

Starting is always the hardest part. People often get themselves in the situation of having to pack in a hurry because they don’t know where to start. And when they finally figure out, it’s too late and they have to rush things. And rarely anything is done well in a rush. So if you can, try to avoid this situation. Starting anywhere is good. But of course, it’s better to start at the right place. Firstly, it’s important to be prepared for the move. Which means having ready all the:

    • boxes
    • tapes
    • labeling markers
    • papers
    • bags etc.

    Moving company workers.

Hiring a moving company will make your move easier.

Buying packing supplies at an affordable rate will save you a lot of money. And saving money during the move is recommended as you never know if something bad will happen. We definitely suggest that you hire a moving company as they are professionals who will do their job right and they will keep your belongings safe.

    Smartly pack in a hurry

The first things you pack must be the last things you will unpack. Which means you start packing the things you need the least. Those are usually books, pictures, decorations in your home. You can pack your rug so it doesn’t get dirty while you are packing and cleaning and making a mess in all that hurry. Try to not spend so much time on the first part but also don’t just throw it in a box and move on. Remember that you don’t always need all that stuff. Try to get rid of the things you feel like you don’t need. Donate those things or sell them online, it’s up to you. After you pack these it’s time to move on.

    Sorted boxes.

First, pack the things that you will unpack the last.

Next in line are your clothes. Pack the clothes the way they are. Don’t get too much into it as you will lose a lot of time that way. Getting vacuum bags for your clothes will save you so much space and time too. And the best thing is, they are reusable and those bags will come in handy later for storing clothes. But make sure you don’t pack all of them. Leave out some you know you will most certainly need in the next few days. Pack them in an individual bag and place it somewhere visible so you don’t forget it somewhere.

For easier transportation, pack some of your clothes in a suitcase if you have one. It’s a nice way to use the things you already have and save money as after the move you will probably throw away the boxes you used and save the ones you didn’t. We recommend that if you decide to throw the boxes away, you should recycle them.

    Split the job

If there are more of you, for example, you and your significant other, split up. You can do one thing and they can do the other. If this is the case, while you pack the clothes, they can pack the towels, beddings, covers etc. After you’ve finished this part, it’s time to pack the kitchen and the bathroom which are the places you use most often. Make sure you put them in separate boxes. If you have any plants, transporting them can be tough, especially if you are moving far away. So if they don’t have any sentimental value, donate them too. You can easily buy new plants that are suitable for your new home.

    Furniture

If you hired a moving company, you don’t have to worry about packing your furniture. But just to be safe, we recommend you wrap them in plastic foil a few times as you never know what can happen. Even if something bad happens, always think about if it’s the movers’ fault. You will be under big stress but it’s important to keep it cool. And always remember to tip your movers, they are always doing their best and their job is not easy. And if you decided not to hire the moving company, call a friend or a family member for help. Moving furniture by yourself isn’t easy.

    Tips

When people pack in a hurry they tend to forget some things. But if you have a checklist of things you have already packed and things you need to pack you will have a much easier time. Also, while packing, label the boxes. This way when it’s time to unpack you will know which box is which. Besides that, when storing the boxes you will know what box can go on top of another. Putting heavy boxes on lighter ones doesn’t make any sense.

    Making a checklist

Making a checklist can help you be more organized.

Moving is generally really stressful so staying relaxed at all times is highly suggested. While you are doing the packing, play some upbeat music. This will help you work faster. You won’t also be as tired as the job will seem much easier than it actually is. Knowing how to pack in a hurry is definitely much harder that unpacking in a hurry. But if it’s possible, avoid getting in this kind of a situation as it will not only be bad for you but for your stuff too. You might not be careful enough while packing and you might end up breaking some things.
